sorry professor I'm going to have to miss class today bc when I walked outside in the morning it was cold and sunny in a very specific way and suddenly I was struck with a nostalgia for years past so vivid and potent that I had to sit down

Nausea grips Beca’s guts as she boards the plane that day. She’s been on tour for the past two months, and she should feel excited about seeing her girlfriend again, after all this time apart.
Instead, the only thing she feels is unparalleled guilt. She screwed up, big time, and she’s terrified this might cost her the best thing that ever happened to her. She swipes her finger across her screen to unlock her phone and starts typing out a message to Chloe.
About to take off. See you soon!
Chloe’s reply comes through mere seconds later, and another wave of nausea rolls over Beca.
Can’t wait!!! See you soon babe <3
She sucks in a sharp breath and puts her phone away, closing her eyes as she tilts her head back against the seat.
SAM’S VALENTINE’S DAY COUNTDOWN
↳ 12. EMILY & SUE (Dickinson)
When I’m with you, that is the only time I feel alive.
[Emily’s] for sure the crazy one of the family… I mean, the rest of us are pretty normal.
Couple’s skydiving wasn’t really a wedding present Beca had in mind.
“I’m going to kill Amy.”
Of course Amy was the one to gift it.
“We’ll be fine,” her wife (holy shit, her wife. She still had to get used to that) assured her in that unwavering optimism of hers that Beca usually admired.
Not this time.
She grumbled something in response. “If one of us dies it’ll be one of the quickest marriages in history.”
Chloe hit her arm. “Stop. Don’t say stuff like that.”
“Sorry,” Beca said, actually meaning it as she leaned in to press a kiss to Chloe’s cheek.
“You guys ready?”
“No,” Beca replied petulantly.
“Gimme a kiss,” Chloe requested, turning her head. “Might be our last one.”
“Dude.”
“You started it,” Chloe quipped with a wink.
Their respective harnesses were strapped to the ones worn by their instructors, and Beca was soon literally hanging from the edge of the plane.
“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god,” she muttered under her breath as the instructor counted down before jumping out of the plane.
She couldn’t hear herself scream as the freezing air whistled into her ears during the freefall, knocking the oxygen out of her lungs. It lasted three to four seconds, then she was suddenly floating.
“Oh my god,” she repeated as she tried to catch her breath. “Is Chloe alright? Did her parachute open??” She asked, looking around.
“To your right,” the instructor told her and sure enough, Beca caught sight of Chloe floating just above them.
“Oh thank god.” Once the adrenaline rush had subsized, Beca had the chance to take in the breathtaking view. Lush forests, white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters lay below them. “Wow.”
“You alright, babe?” Chloe shouted as they slowly made their way down.
“Yeah, I’ll live,” Beca cried back, giving her a thumbs up.
They landed around ten minutes later, and Beca could finally breathe properly. Chloe walked over with a wide grin. “Cool, huh?”
“Jesus, I’m never doing that again,” Beca told her, her chuckle strained from leftover adrenaline. “But yeah, it was really cool.”
Chloe pecked her lips. “I love you, wifey.”
Beca felt her heart swell. How she had gotten so lucky as to have Chloe as her partner for life, she still had no idea, but she wasn’t going to take any of it for granted and appreciate every minute. “I love you, too.”

When Beca’s son begged her for ice skating classes, she was far from imagining that she would crush on his hot teacher.

“We’re here!”
A smile curved Beca’s lips at her son’s excitement, though it was a bit strained; she couldn’t help but feel nervous about Elliot wanting to take ice skating lessons. He had been begging for weeks, ever since he had started school in their new town. Apparently, all his new friends ice-skated, so he wanted to give it a go as well.
“We are,” she confirmed as she put the car into park, then unfastened her seatbelt and twisted around in her seat. “Now before we go in, promise me to listen to the teacher, okay? No goofing around.”
Elliot nodded, his brunette curls flopping with the movement. “Yes, Momma.”
Beca stepped out and fought off a chill. She would probably never get used to Colorado’s cold as fuck winters after moving here from California. She had gotten a great job offer, and housing was a lot cheaper here. As a single mom, she couldn’t pass on that opportunity.
She screwed a hat over Elliot’s head, then took his hand as they walked towards the entrance to the rink. They had a private class with a Ms. Beale in ten minutes. Beca headed to the booth and smiled at the woman sitting on the other side.
“Hi. I’m Beca Mitchell. My son Elliot has a class with Ms. Beale?”
A redhead approached, smiling at them. “Hi there. I’m Chloe Beale. You must be Elliot?” She asked Beca’s son, who nodded excitedly. “Are you ready for your first skating lesson?”
Beca’s first thought was that she was really hot, and her brain might have stalled for a second before she remembered herself.
